The Leader and Larissa were the standout performers during the Tuesday morning training session at the Bengaluru racecourse. Both horses displayed significant promise as they were put through their paces on the track, drawing attention with their movement and conditioning ahead of future engagements.
The training session, held on September 22, featured a variety of exercises across both the outer and inner sand tracks. Trainers and observers monitored the progress of several horses, with the morning's work providing a clear indication of the current fitness levels within the stables.
Strong displays in gate practice
During the gate practice conducted on the inner sand track, The Leader, partnered with D Fronx, clocked a time of 1:22.5 for the 1200m distance. The Leader notably showed out during the gallop, covering the final 600m in 43 seconds. Similarly, Larissa caught the eye of onlookers, completing the 1200m distance in 1:25.5, with a final 600m split of 43.5 seconds, leaving a positive impression on those tracking the morning's progress.
Other notable gate practice efforts included Cyrus The Great and Aquamatic, who finished their 1200m exercise in 1:26. Cyrus The Great finished four lengths ahead of his counterpart, having covered the middle section between the 1200m and 600m markers in 43 seconds. Meanwhile, Absolute Thunder and Speed Company jumped out well, recording a time of 1:36 for the 1200m distance.
Outer sand track activity
The outer sand track saw a series of shorter, controlled gallops as horses were eased into their routines. Gordon and Tipped Off both clocked 47.5 seconds over 600m, with Tipped Off described as being in fine trim. Unforgettable Star also moved comfortably on the bit, recording a time of 48.5 seconds over the same distance, while Once You Go Black showed a free-moving action to clock 46.5 seconds.
In the longer work on the outer sand, Regal Aristocracy demonstrated good form over 1200m. The horse clocked 1:32 for the full distance, passing the 1000m mark in 1:16 and finishing the final 600m in 45 seconds. These sessions continue to serve as vital preparation for the horses as they maintain their conditioning for the ongoing season.
