A trio of horses caught the eye during the morning training session at Pune on September 6, as trainers put their charges through their paces on the inner sand track. Naledi, Tranquila, and Fourth Wing each produced notable efforts, signaling their readiness as they prepare for future racing commitments.
The session saw a variety of gallops across different distances, with the track providing a platform for horses to demonstrate their current fitness levels. Among the highlights, Naledi, under the guidance of C. Umesh, delivered a sharp performance over 1000m, clocking 1-4, with an 800m split of 48 seconds and a final 600m in 36 seconds, showing a positive response throughout the work.
Standout performances on the inner sand
Fourth Wing also drew attention with an impressive 1000m gallop, stopping the clock at 1-5, with an 800m time of 50 seconds and a 600m sectional of 37 seconds. In the shorter sprints, Tranquila, partnered by S. Kamble, paired with Amelia Earhart for an 800m hit-out. Tranquila finished four lengths clear of her companion, clocking 50 seconds for the distance and 37 seconds for the final 600m, marking her out as one of the more fluent movers of the morning.
Other notable efforts included Absolute Emperor and G Valentino, who worked together over 800m in 50 seconds, finishing neck and neck. In the 1000m category, Nebula moved nicely to record 1-6, while the pair of Zayyan and Sanctified finished level in 1-9. The 1200m distance saw Absolute Serenity and Absolute Majesty work together, with the former finishing two lengths superior in a time of 1-21.
Extended work and steady progress
The longer gallops featured several pairs working in tandem to build stamina. Over 1600m, Jaandaar and Bishop finished level after starting three lengths apart, clocking 1-52. Similarly, Chagall and Rosario completed their 1600m work in 1-51, finishing on level terms while appearing well in hand. Zuccaro and Red Bishop also covered the 1600m distance in 1-53, with the former closing a four-length gap to finish alongside his partner.
Additional work on the inner sand included Rinella, who had an easy 600m spin in 41 seconds, and Cellini, who moved well over 800m in 49 seconds. Rainbow Connection and Cinderella’s Dream both showed good form over 800m, clocking 51 seconds with 600m sectionals of 37 and 38 seconds respectively. The morning session concluded with various horses moving freely, providing trainers with valuable insights into their current condition.
