Mandalay also left a strong impression over the same distance, finishing in 1:27 with a sharp 600m sectional of 42 seconds. These efforts highlight the preparation currently underway as the horses build toward their next competitive engagements.
Gate practice and distance work highlights
The gate practice sessions provided further insight into the readiness of the field. Over 1400m, Renoir, partnered with Southern Force, clocked 1:34.5, with Renoir finishing a distance ahead of its companion. Hold Your Breath also looked comfortable over the 1400m distance, recording a time of 1:35 and pleasing observers with its smooth action.
In other gate practice drills, Burevestnik and Zenzele clocked 1:22.5 over 1200m, with Burevestnik finishing two lengths clear. N R I Victory showed sharp acceleration, jumping out smartly to record 1:21 for the 1200m distance. Meanwhile, Absolute Thunder and Speed Company completed their 1200m gate work in 1:23, with Absolute Thunder catching the eye during the exercise.
Steady progress across the tracks
The morning session featured a variety of workouts across different distances. On the outer sand, Gold Empire maintained fine shape over 1400m, stopping the clock at 1:43. Echoes Of Time also worked over 1400m, finishing in 1:40 before easing up in the final stages. In the 1200m gallops, Mystic Dew and Lasya worked together, with Mystic Dew finishing four lengths ahead of its partner after starting two lengths behind.
The inner sand track saw Shining Way complete a 1000m gallop in 1:07.5, showing a pleasing turn of foot with a 600m split of 39 seconds. Other notable efforts included Inicio, which stretched out well over 1000m to clock 1:11, and Bellavita, which strode out nicely over the same distance in 1:11.5. These sessions continue to serve as a vital indicator of form as the racing calendar progresses.
