IOA president P. T. Usha issued the formal office order on September 17, confirming that the committee will serve as a time-bound interim measure. The formation of this body was conducted in consultation with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to ensure the continued stability of the sport in the country.
Committee Composition and Operational Mandate

The committee’s responsibilities are extensive, covering the management of athlete registrations, team selections, and entries to ensure the sport functions without interruption. Furthermore, the members are required to review the TTFI’s existing constitution and governance framework to ensure alignment with the National Sports Governance Act of 2025 and international regulatory standards. A key objective for the committee is to facilitate a transparent electoral process to eventually install a duly elected governing body.
Governance and Future Oversight
The IOA has explicitly defined the committee’s role as a caretaker and transitional mechanism. To prevent long-term administrative complications, the order prohibits the committee from creating permanent staff positions, entering into significant contractual liabilities, or making irreversible financial commitments. The body is expected to maintain strict neutrality and transparency in all its dealings with government agencies and sporting authorities.
The committee has been granted an initial tenure of six months. While the IOA retains the option to expand the committee to a maximum of five members, any extension of its current mandate beyond the six-month window will require a formal written decision from the IOA, contingent upon prior approval from the ITTF.
