The District Collector, M. Abhishikth Kishore, unveiled the official poster for the Amaravati Championship-2026 at the Collectorate on Tuesday, signaling the commencement of promotional efforts for this extensive month-long sporting event. Championship Details and Structure
The Amaravati Championship will encompass competitions across 12 different sports disciplines, catering to both boys and girls in the under-17 and under-23 age categories. Events are planned to take place at various levels, including constituency, district, and state levels throughout Andhra Pradesh. The selection process will initiate at the constituency level from July 15 to July 25, followed by inter-constituency competitions and selections scheduled from July 26 to August 10. The grand state-level competition is slated for August 20 to August 29.
This initiative aims to foster sports participation and talent development across the state, with the program being executed in collaboration with various sports associations, the Board of Intermediate Education, and educational institutions in higher and technical education, as well as the School Education Department.
Community Engagement and Recognition
During the event, Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari and District Sports Development Officer June Gallyot were also in attendance, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the championship. Collector Kishore took the opportunity to commend local skaters A. Sai Samhitha and Girishma for their recent accomplishments in the sport, showcasing the talent emerging from the region.
The administration has extended an invitation to sportspersons, educational institutions, and the general public to actively participate in the championship, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in promoting sports and physical fitness across Andhra Pradesh.
