In a stunning display of skill and composure, Sayali Wani, currently ranked World No. 151, achieved a remarkable upset against the more experienced Manika Batra, who holds the 51st position in the global rankings. The 20-year-old Wani's victory came during the Ultimate Table Tennis Season-7, where she triumphed over the seasoned three-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games medallist in a thrilling three-game decider. The match, held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, concluded with Wani securing a 2-1 win, which was pivotal in leading the UP Prometheans to their first victory of the league against the Ahmedabad APL Pipers, with a final score of 8-7.

The match was tightly contested, with the score tied at 6-6 when Wani showcased her remarkable poise under pressure. In the decisive game, she saved three match points, ultimately clinching the victory and marking a hat-trick of defeats for Batra in the tournament. The evening began with Ahmedabad taking an early lead, as Payas Jain defeated Sudhanshu Grover in a closely fought match, winning 2-1. Following this, Sofia Polcanova secured another win for Ahmedabad against Yangzi Liu, giving the team a 4-2 advantage as they headed into the mixed doubles.
