49ers WR Deebo Samuel sidelined with hamstring injury

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is facing a period on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury during Sunday's contest against the Seattle Seahawks. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Monday that the playmaker is expected to be unavailable for at least a couple of weeks as he recovers.

The injury occurred with 5:06 remaining in the third quarter. While attempting a carry off the left side, Samuel was brought down by Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas. During the tackle, Samuel lost possession of the ball and remained on the turf while attempting to recover it. Medical staff attended to the receiver on the field for several minutes before he was escorted to the sideline, where the team subsequently ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

Injury woes mount for San Francisco receiving corps

Samuel’s departure further thinned a San Francisco wide receiver group already dealing with significant personnel challenges. Before leaving the game, Samuel recorded two receptions for 21 yards and two carries for 4 yards. Shortly after his exit, receiver Jacob Cowing also sustained an ankle injury during a kick return. Although Cowing was initially listed as questionable, he managed to return to the field to complete the match.

The 49ers finished the game with only four active wide receivers: Mike Evans, Jordan Watkins, and Brandin Cooks. The team entered the matchup already missing several key contributors, with Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson currently placed on injured reserve due to various ailments. Addressing the status of veteran wideout Christian Kirk, who is also on injured reserve with a calf injury, Shanahan noted that it is unlikely he will return to practice this week.
