The Mighty Marathas staged a resilient comeback to defeat the Chero Archers in a high-stakes encounter during the second season of the Archery Premier League at People’s Plaza on Monday. After falling behind in the opening set, the Marathas clawed their way back into the match, eventually forcing a decisive shootoff that ultimately swung in their favor.

The Archers initially asserted dominance with a strong start, but the momentum shifted as the contest progressed. The second and third sets were tightly contested affairs, with both teams splitting the points. The final set proved to be a high-scoring battle that required a meticulous review of arrow placement to determine the outcome. With the scores level, the match proceeded to a nerve-wracking hit-or-miss shootoff, where Aman Saini and Dhiraj Bommadevara delivered clinical performances for the Marathas by finding the yellow ring. Although Mathias Fullerton matched their precision for the Archers, the Marathas secured a 2-1 victory in the tiebreaker.

Dominant displays from Royals and Knights

In other action, the Rajputana Royals maintained their strong form by overcoming the Chola Chiefs. The Chiefs struggled from the outset, failing to release their final arrow in time during a difficult opening set. Despite introducing Deepika Kumari and Marcus D’Almeida for the third set, the deficit proved too large to overcome. The defending champions sealed a comfortable 5-1 win, punctuated by a perfect 10 from Mete Gazoz with his final arrow.

Meanwhile, the Kakatiya Knights halted the Prithviraj Yoddhas' momentum in a 6-2 victory. Bolstered by the return of Nico Wiener, the Knights surged to an early 4-0 lead. Despite a rare off-day for Jyothi Surekha, the combined efforts of Wiener, Neeraj Chauhan, and Elia Canales ensured the Knights remained in control throughout the final set. The day's results saw the Mighty Marathas draw 4-4 with the Chero Archers before winning the shootoff, the Rajputana Royals defeat the Chola Chiefs 5-1, and the Kakatiya Knights overcome the Prithviraj Yoddhas 6-2.
