Myles Garrett set to resume practice for Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Monday that star pass rusher Myles Garrett is set to return to the practice field this week. The 30-year-old defender has been sidelined on injured reserve since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-September, a procedure that followed a persistent issue with knee irritation that also impacted his participation during training camp.

Garrett appeared in the team's season opener but noted after the contest that he was not operating at full health. While his return to practice marks a significant step in his recovery, McVay emphasized a cautious approach regarding the veteran's timeline for returning to game action. The head coach noted that the organization intends to monitor Garrett’s progress on a daily basis to see how his body responds to the increased workload.

Updates on Ferguson and defensive secondary

Beyond the news regarding Garrett, the Rams are also evaluating the status of tight end Terrance Ferguson. Having missed the previous five games due to an ankle sprain sustained in a Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos, Ferguson is trending toward a return to practice. McVay indicated that while a final decision has not been finalized, it is looking increasingly likely that the team will open the tight end's practice window this week.

The team is also managing injuries within the secondary following their recent victory in Week 8. Cornerbacks Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie are both being evaluated on a day-to-day basis ahead of the upcoming game against the Washington Commanders. Watson, who aggravated a previous shoulder injury during the win, is showing positive signs, with McVay noting that the player displayed good strength during his initial check-up. Meanwhile, McDuffie—who exited the field after sustaining a knee injury to his back—is reportedly feeling better than the coaching staff initially anticipated. The Rams will continue to assess both players throughout the week to determine their availability for Sunday.
