Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson ruled out against Bills with thumb injury

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been officially ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s contest against the Buffalo Bills. The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player suffered a right thumb injury on his very first snap of the game, forcing him to the sidelines almost immediately after his return to the field.

The incident occurred while Jackson was attempting a pass. As he released the ball, his right hand collided with Buffalo outside linebacker Greg Rousseau, who was actively rushing to deflect the throw. Jackson was visibly affected by the contact, checking his hand before heading directly to the sideline for medical evaluation.

A premature end to a highly anticipated return

Following the collision, Jackson was escorted into the tunnel by a team trainer with his right hand wrapped. The injury is a significant blow to the Ravens, who were looking to revitalize their offense with their star signal-caller back in the lineup. Baltimore had struggled to find the end zone during Jackson’s recent absence, managing only five touchdowns over the previous 14 quarters of play.

Sunday’s game marked Jackson’s first appearance since being sidelined for three consecutive weeks due to a high ankle sprain. His departure leaves the Ravens, who entered the matchup with a 4-3 record, in a difficult position as they attempt to snap a three-game losing streak. The team now faces the challenge of navigating the remainder of the game against the Bills without their primary offensive leader.
