Skattebo has been dealing with a hamstring injury sustained during the team's overtime contest against the Houston Texans on October 25. Despite the benefit of a bye week to aid his recovery, the running back was unable to participate in practice throughout the week. Harbaugh noted that while the outlook remains uncertain, the team is keeping the possibility of his availability open until closer to kickoff.
Nabers Cleared for Action as Backfield Depth Faces Test
While the status of the backfield remains in flux, the Giants received a positive update regarding wide receiver Malik Nabers. After missing Thursday’s practice session due to a right knee issue, Nabers returned to full participation on Friday. Harbaugh confirmed that the receiver carries no injury designation heading into the weekend and is expected to be a full participant without any limitations against Philadelphia.
Nabers has been a focal point of the New York offense, leading the team with 48 receptions for 605 yards across seven appearances this season. He enters Sunday’s game aiming to secure his fifth consecutive 100-yard performance. His return is a boost for a Giants squad currently holding a 4-2-1 record as they attempt to break a long-standing drought at Lincoln Financial Field, where they have not secured a victory since 2013.
The potential absence of Skattebo, who has tallied 418 rushing yards on 98 carries this season, leaves the Giants thin at the running back position. Devin Singletary is expected to step into the primary role, having recently delivered a game-winning 30-yard touchdown run against Houston. With Tyrone Tracy Jr. recently moved to injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, the team will look to depth options including Phil Mafah and newcomer Greg Desrosiers Jr., the latter of whom was recently signed from the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad and is poised to make his career debut.
