Nakisuuyi inspires Uganda to narrow victory

Uganda Women secured a hard-fought six-run victory over Rwanda Women in Match 4 of the Women's Victoria T20I Series at the Entebbe Cricket Oval. In a low-scoring thriller, Uganda successfully defended a total of 99, with Immaculate Nakisuuyi delivering a standout all-round performance to steer her side to a crucial win.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Uganda found runs difficult to come by against a disciplined Rwandan bowling attack. Esther Iloku provided the backbone of the innings, scoring 27 off 35 balls, while Rita Musamali contributed a steady 23 from 31 deliveries. Despite their efforts, Uganda was restricted to 99/6 after their allotted 20 overs. Marie Bimenyimana was the standout performer for Rwanda, causing significant problems for the Ugandan lineup and finishing with impressive figures of 4/14 from her four overs.

Defensive masterclass seals the result

Facing a target of 100, Rwanda’s chase began under pressure as they lost an early wicket. Although Shakila Niyomuhoza provided some resistance with a brisk 21 off 20 balls and Fanny Utagushimaninde offered support, the Ugandan bowlers maintained a tight grip on the game. The turning point arrived when Immaculate Nakisuuyi dismissed Clarisse Uwase, caught by S Nampiina, effectively stalling Rwanda's momentum.

Nakisuuyi, who had earlier contributed 11 runs with the bat, proved to be the difference-maker with the ball as well. She finished her four-over spell with 2/16, stifling the Rwandan middle order and ensuring the required run rate remained out of reach. Despite the best efforts of the Rwandan batters, they could only manage 93/8 by the end of their 20 overs. Alongside Nakisuuyi, Marie Bimenyimana and Asumin Akurut were noted for their significant contributions throughout the contest. The result marks a resilient defensive effort from Uganda, who managed to protect a sub-100 total in a tense finish at Entebbe.
