Baltimore Ravens Rule Out Derrick Henry Trade Ahead of Deadline

The Baltimore Ravens have officially shut down speculation regarding the future of star running back Derrick Henry, with league sources confirming the team has no intention of trading the five-time Pro Bowler before the NFL trade deadline. Despite growing rumors surrounding his status, the organization has communicated directly with the veteran to reassure him that he remains a central part of their plans for the remainder of the season.

The decision to retain the 11-year veteran comes as the Ravens look to navigate a challenging period, currently holding a 4-5 record. While external chatter had linked Henry to potential moves involving his former head coaches, there has been no evidence of formal inquiries regarding his availability. Instead, reports indicate that the only running back the New York Giants inquired about during recent discussions was Justice Hill, further distancing Henry from any potential departure.

Commitment to a Playoff Push

The speculation regarding Henry’s future was largely fueled by the team’s recent injury struggles, specifically the loss of quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. With Huntley ruled out for the season, the Ravens have turned their attention to acquiring veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, signaling their intent to remain competitive in the playoff race rather than initiating a rebuild. The team’s management remains focused on keeping the roster intact to support whoever is under center, whether that be Brissett or an eventually returning Jackson.

Following a difficult 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars—the team's third consecutive defeat by at least 20 points—Henry addressed the rumors directly. Emphasizing his commitment to the current squad, the running back stated that he has not discussed any potential trade with management and is focused solely on improving the team's performance. “I have not mentioned me going anywhere else,” Henry said. “I’m saying, ‘Let’s go back to work. Let’s try to get better and turn this thing around.’”

Milestones and Upcoming Schedule

Despite the team's recent struggles, Henry continues to reach significant individual milestones. During the loss to Jacksonville, he climbed to seventh place on the NFL’s all-time career rushing list, surpassing both Jerome Bettis and LaDainian Tomlinson. With 13,707 career rushing yards, the veteran is now within striking distance of Curtis Martin, who sits in sixth place with 14,101 yards.

The Ravens are now looking toward a more favorable stretch of their schedule to salvage their season. The team is set to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, followed by road games against the Carolina Panthers and the Houston Texans. After a subsequent bye week, they will return home to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, providing a critical window for Baltimore to regain momentum and solidify their standing in the playoff hunt.
