Aaron Donald Targets Monday Return for Rams Against Giants

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has confirmed his intention to return to the field for Monday night’s clash against the New York Giants. After coming out of retirement on August 30, the veteran defender is preparing for his first appearance since stepping away from the game in March 2024.

Donald, who missed the team's season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, participated in team drills throughout the week. While his exact snap count remains undecided, the defensive standout expressed confidence in his physical condition and the coaching staff's strategy for his reintegration into the lineup.

Injury Concerns and Practice Updates

While the news regarding Donald is positive, the Rams are monitoring the health of wide receiver Puka Nacua. The receiver, who recorded five catches for 74 yards in the Week 1 defeat, was absent from Friday's practice session due to a hip injury. His status marks a sudden change in availability, as he did not appear on the team's injury report during Thursday's session.

Head coach Sean McVay previously indicated that the team was hopeful regarding Donald’s availability for the primetime matchup. Donald noted that he feels significantly better after completing consecutive days of practice, stating that he is ready to contribute in whatever capacity the coaching staff deems appropriate. Should he take the field on Monday, it will mark the end of a 981-day hiatus from NFL competition.
