Orlando Magic Guard Jalen Suggs Sidelined With Knee Injury

The Orlando Magic will be without guard Jalen Suggs for the immediate future after the team confirmed he sustained a mild bone bruise in his right knee. The injury, which occurred during the closing stages of Sunday's win against the New York Knicks, is expected to keep the player sidelined for at least a fortnight.

According to the official announcement released by the organization on Monday, Suggs has avoided any significant structural damage to the joint. He is scheduled to undergo a formal reevaluation in two weeks to determine his readiness to return to the court.

Injury Details and Recovery Timeline

The incident took place with 2:09 remaining in the final quarter of Sunday's contest. While attempting a layup on a breakaway fast break, Suggs suffered a noncontact injury that caused his right knee to buckle. The guard remained on the floor for several moments clearly in distress before being assisted to his feet by team personnel. He was then escorted to the locker room, walking gingerly as he left the court.

Suggs, who was selected fifth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has been a key part of the Magic rotation. Throughout his six-year professional career, he has maintained averages of 12.6 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. His availability has been a recurring concern, however, as various injuries restricted him to a total of 92 appearances over the previous two seasons.
