Jude Bellingham and Ravi Shastri's Unexpected Collaboration Goes Viral During The Hundred Event

Jude Bellingham, the Real Madrid midfielder, made a notable appearance at Edgbaston on Saturday, where he attended a thrilling double-header featuring Birmingham Phoenix and Welsh Fire in The Hundred cricket tournament. As a co-owner of Birmingham Phoenix, Bellingham engaged with fans before witnessing the women's team secure a dramatic victory over Welsh Fire.

Accompanied by his parents, Mark and Denise, Bellingham's presence at the match came just a day after he was seen at St Andrew's, supporting his childhood club, Birmingham City, during a friendly against Barcelona. His family’s support was evident as they cheered from the stands, adding a personal touch to the event.

Warm Reception and Cricket Roots

During the match, Bellingham received a warm welcome from cricket legend Ravi Shastri, who acknowledged the young star's dual sporting prowess. He was also joined by the captains of both teams, Donovan Ferreira of Birmingham Phoenix and Phil Salt of Welsh Fire, further highlighting the significance of his attendance.

Having grown up in Stourbridge, Bellingham has a deep-rooted passion for cricket, having played junior cricket for Hagley Cricket Club in his youth. His love for the sport is reflected in his recent investment in Birmingham Phoenix, where he acquired a 1.2 percent stake valued at approximately £1 million. This investment marks a significant step for the franchise, which is co-owned by Warwickshire County Cricket Club and the American investment firm Knighthead Capital.

Looking Ahead

Earlier this year, Knighthead Capital purchased a 49 percent stake in the franchise, which has since been adjusted to 48.4 percent following Bellingham's entry into the ownership group. His acquisition included a 0.6 percent stake from both Warwickshire and Knighthead, who also have ties to Birmingham City Football Club, where Bellingham began his football journey.

Currently, Bellingham is enjoying a well-deserved break after contributing significantly to England's third-place finish at the FIFA World Cup 2026, where he scored seven goals and provided one assist in eight matches. As the new La Liga season approaches, he is expected to rejoin his Real Madrid teammates for pre-season training, ready to embark on another exciting chapter in his career.
