Throughout his tenure, he has made 213 appearances for the first team, netting 14 goals. However, his playing time has dwindled significantly, with only 36 La Liga matches over the last two seasons, largely due to the rise of younger talents like Pau Cubarsi and Gerard Martin.
Reports from the Barcelona-based publication El Mundo Deportivo indicate that Liverpool will cover Araujo's entire salary during his loan period. This arrangement will provide Barcelona with the financial flexibility needed to pursue additional signings before the summer transfer window closes at the end of August.
Strengthening Liverpool's Defense
For Liverpool, Araujo's addition comes at a crucial time as the team seeks to bolster its defense. The squad has been weakened by the departure of Ibrahima Konate, who transferred to Real Madrid, and a recent muscle injury to Joe Gomez during preseason. Currently, veteran defender Virgil van Dijk stands as the only fit and experienced center-back available to the team.
The loan deal also includes an option for Liverpool to make Araujo's transfer permanent at the end of the season.
