Nyland expressed his desire to leverage these experiences to enhance his performance at Leipzig.
"The World Cup was an incredibly special experience for me and for Norway as a whole. Moments like that penalty save are what every young player dreams of, but football is fundamentally a team sport, and that success was a collective effort," Nyland stated. He emphasized that such high-pressure experiences bolster confidence, demonstrating that one can excel when it matters most. "However, I believe it doesn't change who you are as a player. My focus remains on hard work, humility, and continuous improvement. The tournament reinforced my belief that with the right mindset and teamwork, seemingly impossible goals can be achieved," he added.
Growth Through Experience in Spain
After his initial stint with RB Leipzig, Nyland became a key player for Sevilla in La Liga, where he spent three seasons. He acknowledged the significance of this move in his career, noting how it helped him evolve into a more confident goalkeeper ready to make an impact in Germany once again.
"My time at Sevilla was crucial. It provided me with the chance to play regularly at a high level and take on greater responsibilities within the team. I learned valuable lessons about consistency, handling pressure, and adapting to various football styles. La Liga is often tactical and technically demanding, while the Bundesliga tends to be more intense and direct. These experiences have shaped me into a more complete goalkeeper and a more mature individual. I return to Germany with increased confidence, experience, and a clearer understanding of what it takes to perform consistently," Nyland explained.

Nyland's return to RB Leipzig coincides with the departure of veteran goalkeeper Peter Gulácsi, who concluded an impressive 11-year tenure with the club before the start of the 2026-27 season. Prior to Gulácsi's move to Spain, Nyland had a brief conversation with him, during which they exchanged mutual respect and well-wishes for the upcoming season.
"Yes, we had a short chat. Peter is someone I hold in high regard, both as a goalkeeper and as a person. Our discussion was very positive. He shared some insights about the club and wished me well, and I reciprocated with my best wishes for his new challenge. We didn't delve into specifics, but it was a pleasant exchange between two professionals who understand each other's journeys. He has accomplished a great deal at Leipzig, and I believe everyone at the club appreciates his contributions," Nyland concluded.
