Duan Jansen receives first call-up to the South Africa squad for the upcoming tour in Namibia, joining his twin brother Marco.

Duan Jansen, the twin brother of South African all-rounder Marco Jansen, has received his first senior call-up to the national cricket team. He is poised to potentially make his international debut during South Africa's forthcoming white-ball tour of Namibia. The 15-member squad, under the leadership of seasoned spinner Bjorn Fortuin, is set to participate in a T20I tri-series that includes Namibia and Zimbabwe, followed by a historic three-match ODI series against Namibia.

The T20I tri-series is scheduled to take place in Windhoek from August 28 to September 6, with the ODI matches against Namibia following from September 9 to 13. This ODI series marks a significant milestone as it will be the first bilateral 50-over contest between South Africa and Namibia. Jansen's selection comes on the heels of a standout domestic season in 2025/26, where he was honored as the Division 1 One Day Cup Player of the Year. His pivotal contribution to the Titans' title victory included an unbeaten 61 runs in the final against the Lions.

In addition to Jansen, Eathan Bosch is another uncapped player included in the T20I squad. Connor Esterhuizen, Jordan Hermann, and Nqobani Mokoena have also received their first ODI call-ups. Coach Shukri Conrad expressed confidence in the squad's composition, stating, “We’ve selected one squad for both series as we feel we have all departments well covered and it provides a great opportunity for players to build on their international caps.” He noted the potential of players like Connor and Nqobani, who had shown promise during the T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year.

Conrad emphasized that maintaining the same squad for both formats would enhance player continuity and offer invaluable international experience. Nationally contracted players such as Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, and Kwena Maphaka are expected to add depth to the team. “This tour has also opened the door for players who have performed domestically. Duan is one of those players. He is a quality all-rounder who has also shown great character for the Titans,” he remarked. The coach also highlighted Fortuin's leadership capabilities, noting his successful captaincy with the Lions.

As South Africa prepares for this significant tour, they are scheduled to depart from Johannesburg to Windhoek on August 25, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in their cricketing journey.
