According to Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh, a case was filed against Porel, leading to a court order for his arrest. "He was arrested late last night and will be presented in court today," Singh stated. The arrest was executed by the Mogra police, and Porel is expected to appear before a court in Chinsurah later on Tuesday.
Law enforcement officials have charged Porel under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 69, along with provisions from the Information Technology Act. The complaint was lodged by a medical student from Karnataka at the Mogra police station on June 23. In her statement, she claimed to have been in a relationship with Porel for approximately three and a half years, during which they had discussed marriage.
