India Secure Second Consecutive Victory Over Cameroon at FIFA U15 World Cup

India continued their impressive form at the inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival in Azerbaijan, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Cameroon in their second Group K encounter on Sunday. The win at the Hovsan Competition Complex Pitch 1B keeps the Blue Colts at the top of their group as the only side to remain undefeated after two matches.

The match began with immediate intensity despite challenging rainy conditions. India took the lead within the opening minute when a corner delivered by Deepak Singh Arambam caused chaos in the Cameroon penalty area. In an attempt to clear the danger, Fareil Ngobo inadvertently headed the ball into his own net, gifting India an early advantage.

Defensive Resilience Secures India's Win

Cameroon responded well to the early setback and managed to level the score just before the half-time whistle. A defensive mishap resulted in an own goal by Muhammad Sohil Khan in the 20th minute, sending both teams into the break on level terms. However, India regained their composure quickly after the restart.

The decisive moment arrived in the 27th minute when R Lalremruatfela found the back of the net to restore India's lead. With the advantage restored, the focus shifted to the defensive unit. Goalkeeper Jenit Ningthoujam proved instrumental in preserving the result, producing a series of vital saves throughout the second half. Most notably, Ningthoujam denied Cameroon from the penalty spot, effectively stifling the opposition's momentum.

As the match neared its conclusion, the Blue Colts maintained their tactical discipline, successfully managing the closing stages to confirm their second successive win of the tournament. This result places India in a strong position within Group K as they look toward the remainder of the qualification stage.

India’s campaign continues later on Sunday with a fixture against Grenada. The team is scheduled to conclude their qualification matches with games against Bahrain and Senegal on October 26. The final standings across these five matches will ultimately determine which performance tier India enters for the second phase of the competition.
