As the Bundesliga gears up for the 2026–27 season,
New Signings to Watch
Dortmund has made significant additions to its squad, particularly with the acquisition of two Greek attacking talents:
Konstantinos Karetsas, an 18-year-old midfielder, joins Dortmund from KRC Genk for a fee of €30 million. Unlike many young prospects, Karetsas has already made a name for himself in top-flight football, having played 34 matches in the Belgian Pro League last season, where he notched up 11 assists. His performance in the Europa League was equally impressive, with two goals and five assists in 11 appearances. A standout moment came during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal, where he scored a remarkable goal, signaling his readiness to compete at a higher level.
Giannis Konstantelias, on the other hand, is a more seasoned player at 23 years old, arriving from PAOK for €26 million. His experience is evident, having made his senior debut at just 17 and becoming a key player for PAOK, contributing significantly to their Greek championship win in the 2023–24 season with nine goals and six assists. With 186 appearances and 41 goals for his boyhood club, Konstantelias is expected to make an immediate impact in Dortmund's first team.
Defensive Reinforcements
In addition to their attacking acquisitions, Dortmund has bolstered its defense with the signing of
Standing at 1.95 meters, Gadou brings significant physical presence to the backline, complemented by his impressive speed, which is essential for a modern defensive setup. His development at PSG and subsequent performances at Salzburg, where he made 58 appearances, have caught the attention of Dortmund's management, who have been tracking his progress for some time.
