Bayern Munich Held to Draw After Conceding Fastest Goal in Bundesliga History

Bayern Munich were forced to settle for a point in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Augsburg on Saturday, a match defined by a historic defensive error that saw the visitors concede the fastest goal in Bundesliga history. The encounter, which saw Bayern twice battle back from a deficit, leaves the Bavarian giants two points adrift of league leaders Borussia Dortmund.

The match began in stunning fashion when goalkeeper Manuel Neuer committed a costly error just 8.4 seconds after kick-off. Attempting to distribute the ball, the 40-year-old chipped a pass directly into the path of Robin Fellhauer, who calmly slotted into the unguarded net. The Bundesliga later confirmed the strike surpassed the previous record of nine seconds, jointly held by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi.

Kane Orchestrates Bayern Fightback

Despite the early setback, Bayern eventually found their rhythm, with Harry Kane playing a pivotal role in both equalising goals. After a disallowed effort from Luis Diaz early in the second half, Ismael Saibari levelled the score for the visitors following an elegant assist from the England captain.

Augsburg regained the lead shortly after when Neuer parried a Calvin Brackelmann shot into the path of Rodrigo Ribeiro, who fired home. However, Bayern’s persistence paid off ten minutes from time as Kane turned provider once more, setting up Nathaniel Brown to secure a share of the spoils. Reflecting on the result, Kane admitted the performance felt like a defeat, noting that the team was punished for two sloppy defensive lapses.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany defended his veteran goalkeeper post-match, emphasising that Neuer’s long career speaks for itself. While Bayern missed a crucial opportunity to overtake Dortmund at the top of the table, the result keeps them firmly in the title race. Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Mainz, while Hamburg snatched a dramatic 3-2 win against Hoffenheim courtesy of a stoppage-time goal from Miro Muheim. Stuttgart also recorded a 2-0 win at Paderborn, and Union Berlin edged past Elversberg 1-0.
