AIFF Releases 14,000 Discounted Tickets for India vs Brazil Friendly in Kolkata

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has launched a new initiative to ensure local supporters can attend the highly anticipated international friendly between India and Brazil on October 3. With general-sale tickets for the Kolkata fixture already sold out, the federation is releasing 14,000 discounted seats specifically for members and fans of the city's three traditional clubs: East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan Sporting.

This move follows the rapid depletion of initial ticket stocks, which were previously made available via the District app with prices spanning from Rs 999 to Rs 15,000. By partnering with the Indian Football Association (IFA), the AIFF aims to streamline the distribution process and provide a more accessible pathway for dedicated club followers to secure their place at the stadium.

Streamlined Distribution Through Kolkata Clubs

AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey confirmed the details of the distribution plan during a media briefing in Kolkata on Thursday. Under the new arrangement, the three major clubs will act as hubs for ticket acquisition. Interested clubs are required to notify the IFA regarding their specific ticket requirements, after which a dedicated area will be established at each club’s tent to facilitate direct sales to their members and supporters.

The allocated seats are positioned in the B2 and D2 sections of the middle tier, located directly behind the goalposts. In addition to the three major clubs, the discounted tickets will also be accessible to other clubs affiliated with the IFA, ensuring a broad reach across the local football community.

Expanding the Fan Experience Beyond the Stadium

Beyond the immediate ticket allocation for the Brazil match, the AIFF is looking to broaden the reach of the national team's upcoming fixtures. The federation is currently developing plans to establish fan parks across various districts, allowing supporters who cannot attend the matches in person to gather and watch the action on big screens.

Chaubey highlighted that these fan parks are designed to engage younger audiences, particularly academy players, by providing a communal viewing experience. This initiative is part of a wider effort to promote grassroots football and maintain momentum throughout the national team's busy schedule. India is set to play Panama in Bengaluru on September 25, before heading to Kolkata for the Brazil encounter on October 3 and a subsequent match against Uruguay on October 6.
