Dominant Bowling Sets the Tone

West Indies Women moved one step closer to a series sweep after a clinical performance at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the visitors restricted Zimbabwe Women to 106/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The foundation for the victory was laid by Jahzara Claxton, who spearheaded the bowling attack with a sharp spell of 3/14 from her two overs, ensuring the hosts never found the momentum needed to post a competitive total.

Zimbabwe’s innings was anchored by Beloved Biza, who top-scored with 35 off 35 balls, while Kelis Ndhlovu provided some resistance with 25 runs from 28 deliveries. Despite their efforts, the West Indies bowling unit remained disciplined throughout the innings, consistently taking wickets at regular intervals to keep the pressure firmly on the home side.

Brathwaite Powers Successful Chase

Chasing 107 for victory, West Indies faced an early wobble when they lost two wickets with the score at 27 in the third over. However, any hopes Zimbabwe had of mounting a comeback were quickly extinguished by Eboni Brathwaite. Playing with aggressive intent, Brathwaite turned the game on its head with a spectacular 57 off just 23 balls.

Supported by Realeanna Grimmond, Brathwaite’s explosive knock ensured the target was reached with ease. The partnership effectively neutralized the Zimbabwe bowlers, allowing the West Indies to cruise to 108/2 and seal an eight-wicket win. With this result, the West Indies Women have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Brathwaite was named Player of the Match for her match-winning display, while Claxton and Stafanie Taylor were also noted for their significant contributions to the victory.
