Tanveer leads UAE to clinical victory

After Malaysia won the toss and elected to bat, the UAE bowling attack maintained disciplined pressure throughout the first innings. Aayan Afzal Khan was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 3/18 from his four overs to restrict the hosts to 144/6. Virandeep Singh top-scored for Malaysia with 32 off 30 balls, while Syed Aziz provided a brief spark with a quick-fire 28 off 17 deliveries, but the UAE bowlers ensured the total remained within reach.
A rescue act under pressure
The UAE chase began in precarious fashion. The visitors lost early wickets, including the dismissal of Adeeb Usmani with the score at just 13 in the opening over. However, the early setback only set the stage for Tanveer to take control of the contest. Entering the fray under pressure, Tanveer showcased remarkable composure, dismantling the Malaysian bowling attack with an explosive 68 off just 29 balls.
Supported by Tanish Suri, Tanveer’s aggressive approach shifted the momentum firmly in favor of the visitors. His ability to find the boundary consistently allowed the UAE to recover from their rocky start and accelerate toward the target of 145. By the time the dust settled, the UAE had reached 150/4, sealing the victory with time to spare.
Tanveer’s contribution was not limited to his batting heroics; he also chipped in with 2/22 from his four-over spell, cementing his status as the Player of the Match. With Aayan Afzal Khan’s economical spell and Prashant Madhukar also contributing to the team effort, the UAE will head into the second T20I with significant momentum as they look to wrap up the series.
