Mount, who joined United from Chelsea in 2023, left the game less than 20 minutes in after appearing to sustain a knock, prompting Carrick to substitute him with Tyler Fletcher.

Since his transfer, the 27-year-old has faced a challenging period, grappling with various fitness issues that have hindered his ability to secure a regular spot in the lineup. However, Carrick reassured fans that there was no cause for immediate concern, emphasizing that Mount's withdrawal was a precautionary measure. "He got kicked. We just wanted to be careful and look after him. We've been lucky with injuries so far, so we wanted to be careful," Carrick stated in an interview with MUTV following the match.

After the game, Mount was observed walking towards the team coach without any visible signs of distress, which further suggested that his injury might not be serious.
