Squad Adjustments and International Returns
Bhuvneshwar’s withdrawal from the Hong Kong Sixes comes as a result of his return to the international fold after a nearly four-year absence from the T20I setup. The veteran fast bowler was recently named in the squad for the five-match series against New Zealand, which will be captained by Shreyas Iyer. His selection follows a recent period of activity where he was also drafted as cover for the final T20I against the West Indies after Arshdeep Singh suffered an injury in Hyderabad.
Anuraag Bhatnagar, the Director of Commercial and Marketing at Cricket Hong Kong, China, expressed support for the development. While acknowledging that the tournament organizers would miss Bhuvneshwar’s presence on the field, he noted that his return to the national team is a significant milestone. Bhatnagar extended his best wishes to the bowler for the New Zealand tour and indicated that the tournament looks forward to hosting him in future editions.
India’s Roster for the Tournament
The final squad representing India at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 will be led by Krunal Pandya. Joining him in the lineup are Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, T Natarajan, and the newly added Kulwant Khejroliya. The team will look to leverage the collective experience of these players as they prepare for the competition later this month.
