Troyes Dismiss Sporting Director Jocelyn Blanchard Following Allegations of Misconduct

Ligue 1 club Troyes have officially parted ways with sporting director Jocelyn Blanchard, confirming his departure with immediate effect. The decision follows a period of intense scrutiny surrounding the 54-year-old, who had been the subject of an internal investigation regarding allegations of inappropriate conduct and sexist remarks directed at female staff members.

The club confirmed the termination of their partnership in a brief statement released on Friday. Troyes indicated that they are now focused on maintaining the stability of their sporting operations and will initiate the search for a successor to fill the vacant role in the near future.

Judicial Investigation and Club Response

The dismissal occurred shortly after local newspaper L'Est Eclair reported that the public prosecutor’s office in Troyes had launched a formal judicial investigation into the former footballer. These developments follow an internal probe that began earlier in October after several female employees reportedly filed complaints against the sporting director.

Troyes, which is part of the City Football Group, has been managing the situation alongside the holding company. Prior to the official announcement of his departure, club president Edwin Pindi had addressed the ongoing internal process, stating that the club possessed the necessary resources to investigate the matter thoroughly and remained committed to uncovering the facts.

Background and Context

Blanchard had only joined the club during the summer, reuniting with Pindi after their previous collaboration at Dunkerque, where he served as sporting director from 2020 to 2023. His career in football administration also includes two separate tenures at Lens between 2011 and 2017. As a player, the former midfielder enjoyed a professional career that included stints at Metz, Juventus, and Austria Vienna.

The off-field turmoil comes during a challenging period for the team on the pitch. After suffering relegation from the top flight in the 2022–23 season, Troyes secured a return to Ligue 1 for the current campaign. The club currently sits 17th in the league standings, having recorded one victory from their opening six matches.
