Although fatigue forced him to briefly retire from the field, he returned to the crease following the dismissal of Mohammed Shami, who contributed a quick 28.
The captain’s pursuit of a triple century eventually ended when he was caught near the long-on boundary for 270. His 334-ball stay at the crease, featuring 30 fours and seven sixes, stands as the eighth-highest individual score in the history of the Duleep Trophy. Razdan lauded the effort, noting that the performance was a testament to Kishan’s temperament and match fitness in challenging conditions. With this total, East Zone crossed the 700-run mark for only the third time in their first-class history at the venue.
