Love has been sidelined for approximately four weeks after sustaining a high-ankle sprain during a preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on August 13th. Following the injury, the Notre Dame product missed the remainder of the preseason schedule and was limited to observing practice from the sidelines in street clothes as recently as last week.
Progress and Roster Outlook
Providing an update on the rookie's status, LaFleur noted on Monday that Love was involved in the team's walk-through session. While the coach described the running back as still in the process of progressing, he indicated that he feels good about the current trajectory of the recovery. The team is not required to provide an official injury designation until the first formal injury report is released this Wednesday.
The Cardinals’ backfield depth remains a focal point as the team prepares for the regular season. Arizona opted to retain three running backs on its initial 53-man roster, including Tyler Allgeier, Bam Knight, and Love. Additionally, the organization has bolstered its depth by signing Evan Hull to the practice squad. Love, who was selected third overall in April’s draft, remains a key component of the team's offensive plans as they head into the opening week of the season.
