The 2008 incident, often referred to as the 'Slapgate' controversy, involved Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth after a match, a moment that was widely broadcast and became one of the most discussed events of that IPL season. Following the altercation, Harbhajan faced significant repercussions, including an 11-match suspension from the IPL and a hefty fine. The latest developments began when Sreesanth was shown an old photograph of the two cricketers wearing boxing gloves during a recent interaction. Seizing the moment, Sreesanth issued a direct challenge to Harbhajan, asking him to step into the boxing ring. "This same scene, do you have the guts? Do you have the guts to come into the ring with me? Can you sign and come? I am asking him. Do you have the guts to come into the ring with me? Wearing this same gloves... This is not acting, I am smiling. You are not even smiling, I don't know what you are doing. Let's see. This is an open challenge," Sreesanth declared, reigniting interest in their long-standing rivalry.
