The review, which was initially delayed due to the two-Test tour of Sri Lanka, will encompass a comprehensive analysis of India's recent international campaigns. The scope of the evaluation extends beyond the disappointing UK tour to include the team's performances in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
India’s recent form has been marked by a series of setbacks, including a 2-0 defeat in the T20I series against Ireland in June and a 4-0 loss in the five-match T20I series in England. The latter included a heavy 125-run defeat in Nottingham. Furthermore, under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the side suffered a 2-1 loss in the ODI series against England.
Beyond on-field results, the BCCI is prioritizing the management of player fitness. With a two-Test series against New Zealand approaching in November, the board is concerned about the frequency of injuries affecting the squad. Gill previously voiced his frustration regarding these recurring fitness issues following the third ODI against England at Lord's.
The urgency of the situation is highlighted by the current status of several key players. Jasprit Bumrah was sidelined for the Sri Lanka tour due to a recurring left knee injury. Additionally, the availability of Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Nitish Reddy, and Harshit Rana for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan remains uncertain, with all four players slated for fitness assessments at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on September 9.
