The decision to bring in Van Noy follows a challenging period for the Vikings' defensive depth chart. The team previously traded Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles in April to manage salary cap space, and the unit suffered a significant blow during the final preseason game last Friday when second-year prospect Tyler Batty sustained a season-ending knee injury.
