BCCI Shifts India vs Sri Lanka Series Opener to Visakhapatnam

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced a venue change for the opening match of the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. The first ODI, which was originally slated to be held in the capital, will now be hosted at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

The decision follows a formal request from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to move the fixture. The association cited logistical challenges stemming from extensive renovation work currently underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Furthermore, concerns regarding unfavorable weather conditions in Delhi during the month of December prompted the request to ensure the match could proceed without disruption.

Details of the Venue Change and Series Schedule

The BCCI confirmed the relocation on Thursday, approving the shift to Visakhapatnam for the series opener scheduled for December 13. While the venue for the first match has been updated, the remainder of the tour remains unaffected, with the other five matches proceeding at their originally designated locations.

The tour, which features three ODIs and three T20Is, is set to begin with the ODI leg. Following the opening match in Visakhapatnam, the teams will travel to Bengaluru for the second ODI on December 16, followed by the third ODI in Ahmedabad on December 19. The T20I series is scheduled to commence on December 22 in Rajkot, with subsequent matches taking place in Cuttack on December 24 and Pune on December 27.
