CSK and SRH Finalize Four-Player Trade Ahead of IPL 2027

In a significant reshuffle ahead of the IPL 2027 season, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have confirmed a four-player trade deal. The agreement sees a mix of international all-rounders and experienced seamers swap franchises as both teams look to recalibrate their squads following the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.

The trade brings English all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian seam-bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards to the Chennai Super Kings. For Livingstone, the move involves a notable salary adjustment; he joins the Chennai franchise for INR 6 crore, a significant reduction from the INR 13 crore valuation he held at Sunrisers Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Edwards joins the Chennai setup at his current contract value of INR 3 crore. The Australian had been part of the Hyderabad roster since before his international debut, though his 2026 season was unfortunately curtailed by a foot injury that prevented him from making an appearance.

Hyderabad Bolsters Pace Attack with Khaleel and Ellis

In exchange for the two all-rounders, Sunrisers Hyderabad have secured the services of left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis. For Khaleel, the move marks a return to familiar territory, as he previously represented the Hyderabad franchise between 2018 and 2021. He had moved to Chennai ahead of the 2025 season, where he claimed 15 wickets in 14 matches, though his 2026 participation was limited to just five games due to a right quadriceps injury.

Joining Khaleel in the Hyderabad squad is Nathan Ellis, who moves at his existing fee of INR 2 crore. Known for his tactical variations and proficiency in the death overs, the Australian quick will be aiming for a fresh start after missing the entirety of the 2026 tournament due to a severe hamstring injury. By finalizing this trade, Chennai Super Kings have bolstered their middle-order and all-round options with Livingstone and Edwards, while Sunrisers Hyderabad have opted to reinforce their bowling depth with the acquisitions of Khaleel and Ellis as they prepare for the upcoming season.
