India celebrated a commanding performance on the track at the Asian Para Games on Thursday, as Anjanaben Bumbadiya secured the gold medal in the women's 400m T47 event. In a display of tactical precision and speed, Bumbadiya crossed the finish line in 59.97 seconds, establishing herself as the only competitor in the four-athlete field to complete the race in under one minute.

The success for the Indian contingent was further bolstered by Jayanti Behera, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 1:00.65. The podium was completed by Thailand's Sasirawan Inthachot, who secured the bronze medal after clocking 1:02.58.

Strong Showing Across Track Events

The T47 classification, which features athletes with upper-limb deficiencies such as below-elbow or wrist amputations, saw a high level of competition throughout the final. Bumbadiya’s ability to break the one-minute barrier proved to be the decisive factor in securing the top spot on the podium.

Beyond the success in the T47 category, the Indian team saw further success in the women's 400m T12 event. Tejalben Damor, competing in the visually impaired category, added to her growing medal tally by securing a silver medal with a time of 57.60 seconds. This achievement marks Damor's second medal of the current Asian Para Games, following her previous bronze medal finish in the women's 200m T12 event.
