India celebrated a dominant performance on the track at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya on Thursday, October 22, as
Bumbadiya delivered a standout performance, crossing the finish line in 59.97 seconds. Her effort was particularly notable as she was the only athlete in the four-runner race to complete the distance in under one minute. Her teammate, Behera, followed closely to claim the silver medal with a time of 1:00.65, while Thailand’s Sasirawan Inthachot rounded out the podium by taking bronze in 1:02.58.
Strong showing for Indian athletics in Nagoya
The T47 classification, which features athletes with upper-limb impairments such as below-elbow or wrist amputations, proved to be a successful hunting ground for the Indian team. The one-two finish highlights the depth of talent within the squad as they continue to compete against the best in the region.
Beyond the success in the 400m T47, the Indian athletics team saw further success on the track through Tejalben Damor. Competing in the women’s 400m T12 event for visually impaired athletes, Damor secured a silver medal with a time of 57.60 seconds. This achievement adds to her growing tally at the 2026 Games, as she had previously earned a bronze medal in the 200m T12 competition earlier in the tournament.
