Inspire Institute of Sport Wrestlers Lead India's Charge at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

A contingent of seven wrestlers from the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) is currently representing India at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The group, which spans women's wrestling, freestyle, and Greco-Roman disciplines, represents a strategic blend of seasoned international campaigners and emerging talent, all of whom have undergone rigorous preparation through national camps and specialized international training stints.

The preparation phase for the squad was intensive, focusing on technical refinement and tactical sharpness. The women’s wrestlers benefited from the guidance of a Japanese coach, while the Greco-Roman specialists sharpened their skills in Uzbekistan, sparring against some of the continent's most formidable competitors. This comprehensive training approach was designed to ensure the athletes were physically and mentally prepared for the high-stakes environment of the Asian Games.

In the women's division, Antim Panghal brings valuable experience from the Hangzhou 2022 Games, while Manisha Bhanwala is set to make her debut. Bhanwala has undergone a significant transition, moving from the 62kg to the 57kg weight class, a change she has supported with dedicated work on her technical versatility. Panghal emphasized the collective focus of the squad, noting that the four-year cycle of the Asian Games makes every opportunity critical.

Rounding out the group is 23-year-old Nitesh Siwach, who enters the 97kg competition with momentum from his recent performances at the Asian Championships, where he secured a bronze in 2025 and a silver in 2026. Sagar Jaglan completes the IIS representation, carrying India's hopes in the 74kg freestyle division. As the tournament progresses, the focus remains on the upcoming medal bouts and the continued efforts of the remaining squad members as they prepare to step onto the mat.
