Teak, Wanganui, and Calix were among the standout performers during Thursday morning’s training session on the outer sand track. As trainers put their charges through their paces on September 3, these three horses produced particularly fluent efforts, signalling their readiness for upcoming competitive engagements.
The morning session provided a clear look at the current form of several runners, with the track conditions allowing for a productive workout. While many horses were exercised at a steady pace, the fluid movement of the leading trio caught the eye of observers present at the facility.
Strong performances on the outer sand
Teak, under the guidance of D. Patel, covered the 1000m distance in 1:12.5, clocking 42 seconds for the final 600m. The horse displayed a fluent action throughout the gallop. Similarly, Wanganui, ridden by Antony, completed the same 1000m distance in 1:11, finishing the final 600m in 42.5 seconds with a free-moving stride. Calix, partnered by Shreyas, also shaped well over the 1000m trip, recording a time of 1:11.5 with a 44-second split for the final 600m.
Other notable efforts during the 1000m gallops included Osaka, who worked well to clock 1:11, and Doncaster Belle, who impressed with a time of 1:14, finishing the final 600m in 42 seconds. Don Carlos also moved impressively, stopping the clock at 1:13 for the 1000m distance, while Estelle strode out well to finish in 1:14.5.
Additional training updates
The 1200m distance saw N R I Victory, ridden by P. Mani, put in a solid performance. The horse clocked 1:29 for the full distance, passing the 1000m marker in 1:13 and completing the final 600m in 43.5 seconds, appearing to be in fine trim for future assignments.
Earlier in the session, shorter work over 600m saw Baashha move well in 1:14, with a 44-second split. Ancient History worked well to record 45 seconds, while Never Give In completed the distance in 46 seconds in an easy piece of work. These training sessions remain a vital part of the preparation process for the horses currently stationed at the track.
