Indian para-cyclists showcased their exceptional talent at the recent UCI para-cycling track event held in Odense, Denmark, where they collectively earned an impressive total of 12 medals. This achievement highlights the growing prowess of Indian athletes in the para-cycling arena.

Arshad Shaikh's Stellar Performance

Leading the charge for India was Arshad Shaikh from Andhra Pradesh, who emerged as the standout performer of the event. Shaikh's remarkable efforts resulted in a total of six medals, which included a silver in the individual time trial and another silver in the individual pursuit. He also clinched gold in the elimination race, further solidifying his status as a top competitor. Additionally, he secured bronze in the 200m sprint and silver in the scratch race, demonstrating his versatility and skill across multiple disciplines.

Young Talents Shine

In addition to Shaikh's achievements, the event also saw impressive performances from younger athletes. Seventeen-year-old Vishwa Vasani from Gujarat made a significant impact by winning four bronze medals. His accolades came from the 1km individual time trial, scratch race, 200m sprint, and elimination race, showcasing his potential as a rising star in para-cycling.

Another notable performance came from 16-year-old Anshuman Dhumal, also from Maharashtra, who secured two silver medals in the elimination race. Dhumal's accomplishments reflect the promising future of Indian para-cycling, as these young athletes continue to push boundaries and achieve remarkable feats on the international stage.
