Mighty Marathas Secure Clean Sweep in Archery Premier League Action

The Mighty Marathas delivered a statement performance at People’s Plaza on Saturday, securing the first clean sweep of the Archery Premier League season-two. Facing off against the Chola Chiefs, the Marathas dominated proceedings to claim a comprehensive 6-0 victory, marking their first win of the current campaign.

The victory was underpinned by a clinical display from Mike Schloesser, who lived up to his reputation as 'Mr. Perfect' by landing a 10 with every one of his six arrows. Supported by the composed anchoring of Dhiraj Bommadevara under significant time pressure, the Marathas maintained control throughout the match. The Chiefs attempted to disrupt their opponents by having their compound archers shoot back-to-back at the start of the set, but a pair of 9s from Chikitha Taniparthi hampered their momentum, allowing the Marathas to pull away and seal the result with set scores of 74-73, 78-75, and 74-71.

Thrilling Finishes and Comebacks Define Evening Session

Following the Marathas' dominant display, the atmosphere intensified as the Chero Archers and Prithviraj Yodhas engaged in the most dramatic encounter of the evening. The contest was a back-and-forth affair that required a hit-or-miss tiebreaker to determine a winner. With the crowd fully engaged, Matias Grande eventually found the inner ring to secure the victory for the Yodhas, as Pritika Pradeep was unable to match his precision in the final moments.

The final match of the day saw the Kakatiya Knights execute a successful comeback against the Rajputana Royals. Despite the Royals taking the opening set behind a high-pressure 10 from Mete Gazoz, the Knights responded with consistency. Neeraj Chauhan proved to be the standout performer for the Knights, delivering clutch X-ring 10s alongside teammate Jyothi Surekha Vennam. Although they narrowly missed a perfect 80 score when Neeraj finished with a nine on the final arrow, the Knights comfortably secured a 6-2 win. The match scores concluded at 74-75, 75-74, 77-76, and 79-74 in favor of the Knights.
