Jaiveer Mahendru has taken the lead in the Open section of the Asian Junior Chess Championship, securing four points after the fourth round of competition held in the city. In the girls' category, Pratitee Bordoli and Leyla Shohradova are tied for the top position, each also amassing four points. With five rounds still to play, the championship remains highly competitive.

Key Match Outcomes in the Open Section

In the fourth round, Mahendru triumphed over Aaditya Dhingra, who now has three points. Mayank Chakraborty also made a significant move by defeating Shageldi Kurbandurdyyev, bringing his total to 3.5 points. Meanwhile, Ahmet Gubatayev faced a setback, losing to Russian player Artem Pingin, who now stands at 3.5 points. Other notable results included Apoorv Kamble drawing with V.S. Nandish, both of whom have three points, and Amanmuhammet Hommadov from Turkmenistan winning against Harsh Ghadge, raising his score to 3.5 points.

Guru Prakash and Madhvendra Sharma ended their match in a draw, both players holding three points. Viresh Sharnarthi achieved victory over Daksh Jagesia, moving to 3.5 points, while Vignesh Vemula secured a win against Ilhan Charyyev from Turkmenistan. In a closely contested match, Arshpreet Singh lost to Aahil Patra, who now has three points, and Aditya Gampa drew with Sanjeeban Mandal, both players finishing with 2.5 points.

In the girls' event, Pratitee Bordoli claimed victory against G. Shivambika, while Leyla Shohradova defeated S. Pranavasri, solidifying her position at the top. V.C. Nivedita and Akshaya Sathi both faced losses against Mariya Kholyavko and Prishita Gupta, respectively, with the latter now at 3.5 points. Aadya Gowda and Dakshita Kumawat ended their match in a draw, both players holding three points.

Other results included Lala Shohradova's win over Mohitha Vakcheri, and V. Tripurambika's victory against Sannidhi Bhat, both players now at three points. Sunetra Dey also secured a win against Anushka Kutwal, while Nilaya Eswara Krishna lost to Shanmathi Sree. Jahan Rejepova from Turkmenistan achieved a win against Sasi Hasini, further intensifying the competition as the championship progresses.
