Chola Chiefs and Prithviraj Yodhas Secure First Wins in Archery Premier League

The second season of the Archery Premier League saw a shift in momentum on Friday as the Chola Chiefs and Prithviraj Yodhas both secured their maiden victories of the campaign. Held at the People’s Plaza, the day’s action featured tactical adjustments and high-pressure performances that dictated the outcomes of three separate contests.

The Chola Chiefs delivered a commanding 6-2 victory over the Kakatiya Knights, largely driven by a strategic masterclass involving their compound archers. Making her league debut, Colombian archer Alejandra Usquiano was flawless, landing all eight of her arrows in the 10-ring. Alongside teammate Rishabh Yadav, the duo executed a tactical plan to front-load their scoring, resulting in a perfect opening half of 40 points. Despite the Knights’ efforts, the early scoreboard pressure proved insurmountable. The Chiefs’ recurve specialists, Deepika Kumari and Marcus D’Almeida, maintained the intensity to seal the final set 79-76 and secure the overall match win.

Tactical Substitutions and Comebacks Define Day of Play

In other fixtures, the Chero Archers orchestrated a successful turnaround against the Rajputana Royals. Although the Royals claimed the opening set, they were unable to maintain their rhythm as the match progressed. The Archers opted for a pivotal substitution, bringing in Atanu Das to replace Yashdeep Bhoge before the second set. The change proved decisive, as Das and partner Casey Kaufhold combined effectively to overhaul the deficit and claim a 6-2 victory.

The Prithviraj Yodhas also found their winning form, defeating the Mighty Marathas with a 6-2 scoreline. The Marathas initially showed promise by taking the first set, but they could not sustain their performance against the side led by Abhishek Verma. The Yodhas displayed remarkable precision in the third set, nearly achieving a perfect score of 80. While an arrow from Matias Grande narrowly missed the mark, landing in the nine zone, the team had already established a commanding lead that the Marathas could not overcome.
