The transition to Mariota comes as the team prepares for a challenging encounter without their primary offensive leader.
The injury occurred on the final play of the first half against Dallas. As Daniels attempted to brace himself during a fall, his left elbow appeared to bend awkwardly, resulting in an incomplete pass as the clock expired. This setback mirrors a similar incident from the 2023 season, where the former Heisman Trophy winner suffered a dislocation in the same non-throwing arm.
A Familiar Injury Challenge
The current situation bears a striking resemblance to the medical challenges Daniels faced last year. On November 2, 2023, he sustained a dislocated elbow in a game against Seattle, an injury that sidelined him for the majority of the second half of that campaign. During that recovery period, he was out of action for four weeks before eventually returning to the lineup on December 7 against the Minnesota Vikings.
