Former NFL All-Pro wide receiver
Addressing the jury on the third day of the trial, Hill acknowledged that he had previously stated he was capable of having people hurt Vaccaro. He characterized the remark as a comment made in the heat of the moment and insisted he never intended to carry out such an act. While admitting to significant interpersonal friction, the former wide receiver maintained that he never struck, scratched, shoved, or otherwise physically harmed his wife, nor did he spit on her or punch toward her stomach during her pregnancy, as alleged in her sworn testimony.
Testimony Regarding Financial Disputes and Domestic Conflict
Hill’s testimony focused heavily on the couple’s volatile relationship, which he claimed was frequently strained by financial disagreements. He alleged that Vaccaro was misappropriating funds from a shared family account, asserting that she was taking approximately $60,000 per month despite having access to a designated family card for household expenses. According to Hill, these financial tensions were exacerbated by his attempts to have her sign a post-nuptial agreement.
The court reviewed footage from a nanny camera recorded during an argument in April 2025, shortly before the couple’s separation. The video captured a heated exchange involving profanity and shouting. Hill testified that the dispute escalated when he questioned Vaccaro about the family finances and the living arrangements of her mother, who was residing in their condominium. While the video showed Hill removing their daughter from a crib, Vaccaro’s mother, who was present in the home at the time, previously testified that she never witnessed Hill physically abuse her daughter.
Reflections on Personal Conduct and Future Proceedings
During his nearly two hours of direct testimony, Hill described his efforts to reconcile the marriage, including attending approximately five couples therapy sessions. He claimed these sessions were ultimately unsuccessful because Vaccaro felt the therapist was biased in his favor. Hill also recounted a specific incident following their April 2025 separation, where he alleged that an unwanted intimate advance from Vaccaro led him to push her against a wall, resulting in damage to the structure. He stated that he subsequently began involving police officers when picking up their daughter to avoid further conflict.
Hill, who is currently unsigned and recovering from knee surgery, told the court he felt it was necessary to share his side of the story in response to the allegations. He reflected on his upbringing, noting that his experiences with homelessness as a high school senior shaped his work ethic. As the trial continues, Vaccaro’s legal team is expected to begin their cross-examination of Hill on Friday. Meanwhile, the NFL has indicated it is reviewing the matter under its personal conduct policy.
