Jeanty’s participation was confirmed following a pregame workout on the field, which was closely monitored by key members of the Raiders' leadership, including general manager John Spytek, offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko, running backs coach Omar Young, and wellness coordinator Alex Guerrero.
Injury Management and Roster Adjustments
The uncertainty surrounding Jeanty’s availability stemmed from a combination of an ankle injury and a flare-up of plantar fasciitis, an issue that dates back to late August. His practice participation fluctuated throughout the week; after a full session on Wednesday, he was limited on Thursday and ultimately sat out the team's final practice before the trip to Massachusetts. The foot injury was only added to the official practice report on Thursday.
In anticipation of potential setbacks, the Raiders had taken precautionary measures by elevating undrafted rookie running back Roman Hemby from the practice squad. However, with Jeanty officially cleared to play, Hemby was subsequently listed as inactive for the game.
Seeking a Spark in the Ground Game
The Raiders are looking for a significant boost from their primary ball carrier as they aim to revitalize their rushing attack. Jeanty enjoyed a strong start to the season, highlighted by a 102-yard performance in the opening victory over the Miami Dolphins. Since that outing, however, his production has seen a decline.
Over the course of the last three games, Jeanty has recorded 55 carries for a total of 162 yards. During that stretch, he has struggled to break through for explosive plays, managing only two carries of 10 or more yards. The coaching staff will be hoping that his return to full health allows him to regain the momentum he displayed in Week 1 and provide the necessary stability for the Raiders' offense against the Patriots.
