Four-time Pro Bowl running back
Chubb, who spent the first seven years of his career in Cleveland, will be further celebrated during the team's home opener this Sunday. Reflecting on his return to the facility, the veteran running back noted that while his exit two seasons ago felt incomplete, being back in the stadium and among the organization offered a chance to move forward with a positive perspective.
A storied career in Cleveland
Selected 35th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Georgia, Chubb established himself as one of the league's most consistent and respected offensive threats. Over his career, he amassed 7,349 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns. His consistency was particularly evident between 2019 and 2022, a four-year stretch in which he eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark annually, highlighted by a career-best 1,525-yard performance in 2022.
Chubb’s standing in the Browns' record books remains elite; he currently ranks third in franchise history with 6,843 rushing yards, trailing only legends Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly. Between 2018 and 2022, he led all NFL running backs with an average of 5.2 yards per carry, while ranking second only to Derrick Henry in total rushing yards and touchdowns during that five-year window.
Overcoming adversity and finding closure
The latter stages of Chubb's time in Cleveland were defined by significant injury setbacks. A severe left knee injury sustained against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 of the 2023 season sidelined him for the remainder of that year and the start of the 2024 season. Although he returned to action for eight games in 2024, a season-ending foot injury in Week 15 ultimately led to his departure from the team.
Following his release, Chubb played his final professional season with the Houston Texans in 2025, recording 506 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Admitting that his heart was no longer in the game once he was no longer wearing a Browns uniform, he decided to step away from the sport. Despite the difficult conclusion to his tenure in Cleveland, Chubb identified the 2020 postseason victory over the Steelers as his favorite memory, citing the camaraderie of that unique season as a highlight of his professional journey.
