Giants Quarterback Jaxson Dart to Undergo Knee Surgery Following Rams Clash

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left knee this Friday, following a significant injury sustained during Monday night's 28-6 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. Sources indicate that the procedure is expected to address both a meniscus and an MCL repair.

The injury occurred early in the contest, specifically on the seventh snap of the game. Dart was caught between two Rams defenders, with linebacker Byron Young hitting him on his right side, which forced the quarterback into linebacker Josaiah Stewart. The subsequent collision resulted in severe damage to his left knee. While initial medical assessments suggested a sprained MCL, follow-up imaging revealed tears to the MCL and meniscus, alongside damage to the PCL. Notably, his ACL remained intact.

Following the official announcement, the Giants placed the 23-year-old quarterback on injured reserve on Thursday. Despite the setback, Dart has remained present at the team facility, attending meetings while navigating the building with a limp. Harbaugh noted the player's determination, acknowledging that while the season is effectively over for the quarterback, his focus has already shifted to recovery.

In the interim, Jameis Winston is set to take over starting duties for Sunday's matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Winston saw significant action against the Rams, completing 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and throwing one interception. The loss of Dart is a blow to the Giants, particularly given his strong start to the season, which included an impressive performance in the team's opening victory over the Dallas Cowboys where he threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
