NFL Week 7 Uniform Preview: Texans and Lions Unveil Bold Alternate Looks

The NFL's seventh week of the season brings a fresh aesthetic to the field, with several franchises opting for bold alternate uniforms and nostalgic throwback designs. While previous weeks heavily featured classic looks, Week 7 is defined by monochromatic statements from teams looking to make a visual impact.

Leading the charge are the Houston Texans and the Detroit Lions, both of whom are debuting distinct alternate combinations. The Texans are set to showcase their "battle red" ensemble, a look introduced in 2024 that features a fully red uniform paired with a matte red helmet adorned with a new bullhorn logo. The design is accented by deep steel blue numbers with liberty white trim, creating a striking contrast against their all-red base.

Alternate Styles and Historic Throwbacks

The Detroit Lions are also embracing a monochromatic theme, opting for an all-black look for their matchup against the Green Bay Packers. This uniform, which includes a Honolulu Blue matte helmet featuring a silver leaping lion logo, marks a return to a style the franchise first experimented with in 1948. After a hiatus following the 2007 season, the black threads were reintroduced to the rotation in 2024.

Not to be outdone, the Dallas Cowboys are scheduled to wear their "color rush" uniform during the "Monday Night Football" clash with the Philadelphia Eagles. First unveiled in 2015, the look has evolved to include an arctic white helmet, which has been a staple since 2022. The all-white aesthetic is complemented by navy blue numbers, providing a clean, sharp appearance for the primetime showdown.

While alternates dominate the headlines, traditionalists have plenty to appreciate this week as well. The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back their 1990s-era throwbacks, featuring royal blue jerseys paired with silver pants and helmets. Additionally, the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets are debuting their classic uniforms for the first time this season. The Jets' "Classic" look pays tribute to their 1968 championship season with an all-white design, while the Falcons are returning to their iconic red helmet, black jersey, and white pants combination. These uniform choices highlight a diverse visual slate for Week 7, as teams across the league balance modern innovation with deep-rooted franchise history.
